Allan Street, Roseville - Proposed raised pedestrian crossing

Project Overview

Council is seeking your input on a proposal from Transport for NSW, (TfNSW) to construct a raised pedestrian (Wombat) crossing on Allan Street at Babbage Road, Roseville.

Consultation closes Friday 5 September 2025

Project information

Background

The local community has raised concerns with TfNSW about vehicles not stopping at the pedestrian signals on Babbage Road at Allan Street.  Due to its close proximity to the traffic signals at Addison Avenue, many southbound motorists fail to notice the first set of traffic signals.

In order to reduce the risk to pedestrians, TfNSW will be removing the pedestrian signals on Babbage Road at Allan Street.  This means that pedestrians will need to cross Babbage Road at the signalised intersection at Addison Avenue.  Pedestrians will then need to cross Allan Street to access the local shops.

Proposed changes

TfNSW is proposing to construct a wombat crossing on Allan Street at Babbage Road.  The crossing would be set back one car length from the intersection, so vehicles waiting to turn left would not block the crossing.

The proposed wombat crossing would result in the loss of 2 on-street 1P parking spaces.
