Bannockburn Oval Amenities Improvements

Project update

Community feedback led to refinements in the concept plan, including more spectator seating and added connectivity in the meeting room space. Council will retain key athletic and spectator areas where possible.

A detailed design is now underway, and construction is expected to begin in late 2026 or early 2027, subject to approvals and tender outcomes.

The project is supported by grant funding focused on accessibility and inclusion, particularly for women and girls.

Project Overview

CONSULTATION NOW CLOSED

Ku-ring-gai Council is planning to upgrade the amenities and club facilities at Bannockburn Oval in Pymble.

Council is implementing essential upgrades to address the limitations of the current outdated amenities and club facilities, and to ensure compliance with accessibility regulations (DDA compliance). These improvements willenhance usability for everyone, including players, families, and spectators, and will transform Bannockburn into a truly inclusive and welcoming sporting venue.

About the project

Bannockburn Oval, a key multi-sport venue featuring an athletics track, synthetic wicket, soccer fields, playground, and clubhouse, is set to receive significant upgrades. Ku-ring-gai Council is undertaking this project to modernise the amenities and club facilities. The improvements will directly benefit the local sports community, including soccer clubs and athletes, as well as general visitors by making the facilities more accessible, safer, and better suited to current needs.

Our plan

We have developed a concept plan for the improvements.

Key features of the upgrade include:

  • New single-storey amenities building with accessible changerooms, toilets, canteen and meeting room
  • A spectator viewing deck over equipment storage areas at field level
  • Modern canteen facilities
  • Upgraded accessible pathways

These enhancements aim to create a modern, multi-purpose space for community sports and recreation. Ku-ring-gai Council currently has only one "Changing Places" facility (at St Ives Showground), and this project would introduce a second within the LGA.
