Destination Management Plan - Resident Consultation

Project overview

CONSULTATION NOW CLOSED

Help us shape our upcoming Destination Management Plan.

Ku-ring-gai Council is currently developing a new destination management plan to guide the future of tourism and visitation in our area.

The plan will set out how we manage visitors, protect our natural and cultural assets, support local businesses and balance community needs with sustainable tourism.

Input from our local community is essential. Share your views on this page via the survey or written submission on what you value about our area, how visitation affects you and what priorities should guide the plan.

Project background

Ku-ring-gai receives visitors from holiday-makers, people visiting family and friends, and business travellers.

In 2024, there were 526,869 visitors to the Ku-ring-gai LGA, with 67% of visitors made by domestic day-trippers. A total of 55% of day trips to Ku-ring-gai were made to see family and friends.

To help inform how we manage tourism and visitor activities in the area, Ku-ring-gai Council is developing a new Destination Management Plan (DMP). The DMP will set out actions to:

  • guide visitors to and around the LGA
  • improve visitor experiences
  • raise our area's profile as a visitor destination consistent with community values.

The plan will align with the NSW Visitor Economy Strategy 2035, and will also seek to leverage the work and resources of other key agencies.

Have your say

We want to hear from both residents and business owners/operators in the LGA, to help us develop a plan that best suits our community.

If you are a resident, fill in the survey on this page. If you own or operate a business within the LGA, complete the survey on our businesses page.

Alternatively, you can share your views by completing the 'Your submission' form on this page.

Feedback closes 23 March.
