Kintore Street, Wahroonga - Proposed speed cushions

Project Overview

Council is seeking community input about a proposal to install speed cushions on Kintore Street, between Eastern Road and Wahroonga Avenue in Wahroonga.

Before deciding if the proposal should be considered by the Ku-ring-gai Traffic Committee for approval, we are seeking community feedback to gauge support.

Consultation closes Friday 29 November 2024.

Project information

Why is a change being considered?

Council has recently received several complaints from residents about increased traffic volumes on Kintore Street, since the construction of the roundabout at Eastern Road.  Concerns have also been raised about traffic speeds along Kintore Street.

Traffic counts show that while traffic volumes on Kintore Street are relatively low, they have increased significantly since the construction of the roundabout.

What is being considered?

Speed cushions are proposed outside #38 and #68 Kintore Street.  A row of 3 speed cushions is proposed at each location.

Speed cushions have not been proposed on Kintore Street between Wahroonga Avenue and Grosvenor Street at this stage.  The lack of kerb and gutter along parts of this section would mean that some drivers would swerve onto the grass verge to avoid the speed cushions.  The prevalence of driveway gutter bridges and unformed road shoulders on Kintore Street to the west of Wahroonga Avenue would mean that speed cushions may cause some motorists to drive into the gutter bridges.
