Tree management
Council prioritises preserving high-value street trees where possible. Some removal may be required due to major root encroachment or poor tree condition.
Trees that may be removed due to major root encroachment:
- Adjacent to 125 Springdale Road – Liquidambar (Liquidambar styraciflua)
- Outside 8 Monash Avenue - Camellia (Camellia sasanqua)
- Outside 10 Monash Avenue - Norfolk Island Pine (Araucaria heterophylla)
- Outside 12 Monash Avenue - Crab Apple (Malus x floribunda)
- Outside 12 Monash Ave - Broad-leaved Scribbly Gum (Eucalyptus haemastoma)
- Road verge south of 5 Monash Ave - Red Bloodwood (Corymbia gummifera)
- Outside 5 Monash Ave - Jacaranda (Jacaranda mimosifolia)
- Outside 5 Monash Ave - Sour Gum (Nyssa sylvatica)
Trees that may be removed due to poor condition:
- Outside 8 Monash Ave - Forest Oak (Allocasuarina torulosa)
Replacement trees will be planted to maintain our urban canopy.
Timeline
We aim to finalise the project design by mid-2026. Construction will then commence subject to environmental approvals, budget availability and Council’s mandatory procurement process.
