Project Overview

Thank you to everyone who participated in the community consultation for the North Gordon streetscape upgrades concept plan in mid-2023. Your feedback has been invaluable in shaping this project, which aims to improve the streets in North Gordon following the completion of several development sites in the area.

We are now moving into the second phase of community engagement, and we're pleased to advise that the project scope has been expanded to include an additional site along Pacific Highway.

Original project area

The original concept plan, developed following community consultation in October 2021 and May 2023, includes streetscape improvement works in:
• Fitzsimons Lane
• Ridge Street (north of Fitzsimons Lane)
• Merriwa Street (between Fitzsimons Lane and Pacific Highway)
• Pacific Highway (north of Merriwa Street)

Proposed improvements by location

Pacific Highway
• high quality large format paving for continuity in the streetscape
• low level shrub planting along sections of kerb to soften the appearance of the streetscape
• new street tree planting where footpath width allows
• street furniture

Fitzsimons Lane
• adjustments to kerb lines to create space for footpaths to both sides of the lane
• new street tree planting where footpath width allows
• high quality large format paving for safety and continuity
• new LED street/pedestrian lighting

Merriwa Street
• undergrounding of power lines
• high quality large format paving for continuity in the streetscape
• new street tree planting where footpath width allows
• new LED streetlighting
• refuge island near Pacific Highway intersection for improved pedestrian safety

Ridge Street
• new street tree planting where footpath width allows

Expanded project area – what's new

The upgraded streetscape will now also include the Pacific Highway frontage in front of and adjacent to Gregory & Carr. This expansion provides an opportunity to create a more cohesive streetscape experience and deliver greater benefits to the North Gordon community.

How to get involved

We invite you to:
1. Review the original concept plan to refresh your understanding of the proposed improvements across Fitzsimons Lane, Ridge Street, Merriwa Street and Pacific Highway
2. Familiarise yourself with the new expanded area along the Pacific Highway frontage at Gregory & Carr
3. Provide your feedback on both the original concept and the proposed expansion

Your input during this phase will help us refine the design and ensure the upgraded streetscape meets the needs of residents, businesses and visitors to North Gordon.
