Park Avenue, Gordon - Proposed raised pedestrian (wombat) crossing

Project update

At the Local Transport Forum (LTF) meeting on 18 February 2026, the Forum recommended that subject to available funding, a raised wombat crossing with street lighting update be constructed on Park Avenue.

To complete this project, Council will apply for funding from Transport for NSW under its Get NSW Active Program. It is expected that Council will learn whether the funding application was successful by mid-2027. If successful, a construction timeline can then be finalised.

Project Overview

CONSULTATION IS CLOSED

Ku-ring-gai Council is seeking community feedback on a proposal to replace the existing at-grade pedestrian crossing on Park Avenue, west of Werona Avenue, with a raised pedestrian (Wombat) crossing.

Background

Park Avenue is a busy connector road that provides access to the Pacific Highway, and the Wade Lane car park.

The existing at-grade pedestrian crossing on Park Avenue is heavily used by pedestrians, due to its proximity to Gordon Station and Town Centre.

Council has received complaints about drivers not stopping for pedestrians using the crossing.

What's being proposed

A new raised pedestrian crossing is proposed on Park Avenue to replace the existing at-grade pedestrian crossing.

The works would also include an upgrade of the street lighting to meet current standards for a pedestrian crossing.
