Protecting the natural character of the reserve is a priority. The concept design focuses on keeping the mature trees and open grass areas while adding new natural play elements.
District Parks are large, regionally significant open spaces designed to serve multiple neighbourhoods within an approximate 2 km radius. They offer a broader range of facilities and play opportunities than smaller local parks.
This project is following a multi-phase engagement process. In mid-2025, we conducted Phase 1 consultation to gather initial ideas and priorities. Those insights directly informed the current Concept Design. We are now in Phase 2, where we are asking for your feedback on that specific design.
While Phase 1 feedback was the foundation for the concept plan, Council must balance community desires with practical realities. Final designs are shaped by site and technical constraints (such as underground services and topography), environmental factors, and available budget and maintenance parameters.
Yes. Based on community feedback regarding safety for young children, the concept design maintains a fenced and gated playground enclosure.
