Council is planning to upgrade the existing playground at Queen Elizabeth Reserve. This will transform the current playspace into an attractive, engaging, and inclusive area that everyone in the community can enjoy.
The current playground is in need of an upgrade to improve access and opportunities for play. As a district park playspace, Queen Elizabeth Reserve attracts visitors from outside the immediate neighbourhood, and the upgrade will better serve the growing residential community.
District Parks have features that attract people from outside the immediate neighbourhood. These include unique landscape character or large areas of open space for recreation. Queen Elizabeth Reserve is categorised as a district park playspace, meaning it serves a wider community beyond just the surrounding streets.
Yes, improving accessibility for users of all ages and abilities is a key goal of this project. The design will incorporate inclusive play elements and accessible paths to ensure everyone can enjoy the space.
Natural play elements incorporate features like logs, boulders, plants, sand, and other natural materials that encourage creative, unstructured play. These elements help children connect with nature while developing physical and cognitive skills in a more organic setting than traditional playground equipment.
Council is undertaking a 2-phase process of community engagement to ensure the new design meets the needs and expectations of the local community
- Phase 1 - Ideas gathering (June 2025). We're currently seeking community input about the existing playground, how it is used, and gathering ideas for the future upgrade. To assist in designing the new play space, you're invited to complete the user survey.
- Phase 2 - Consulting on the concept plan (late 2025/early 2026). The concept plan, developed using feedback from Phase 1 engagement, will be exhibited for public comment. Community input will assist in finalising the concept design.
Community feedback will be used to develop and refine the concept design. Phase 1 input will inform the initial concept plan, while Phase 2 feedback will help finalize the design before construction begins.

The project is currently in the Phase 1 community engagement stage (May 2025). The concept plan will be developed based on this feedback and will be exhibited for public comment in late 2025 or early 2026 during Phase 2 of community engagement.
Construction will likely occur in late 2026.
The length of construction is to be determined, depending on the final design.
The park will remain open but the existing playspace will be closed.
The new playspace will provide:
- Enhanced recreational opportunities for families
- A community gathering space that promotes social connection
- Inclusive play options for children of all abilities
- Improved facilities like seating and shade for caregivers
- Opportunities for active play that promotes health and well-being
- Natural elements that encourage connection with the environment
To be confirmed – likely late 2026 or early 2027
Council’s webpage will be updated as the project progresses. Further information will also be distributed via Council’s E-newsletter.
