About the project
Introduction
Ku-ring-gai Council is dedicated to fostering a vibrant, connected, and liveable community, with infrastructure and services that adapt to our residents' changing needs. As Ku-ring-gai experiences change, with urban development and an increase in population, it’s essential that our planning reflects the community's future vision, creating a unique and exceptional place to live.
What is a Community Strategic Plan (CSP)?
A Community Strategic Plan is the highest-level plan set by local government, setting a long-term vision for Local Government Areas over a 10 year period. A CSP addresses key areas such as infrastructure, services, environmental sustainability, and social wellbeing. It guides Council’s decisions and ensures that the needs of the community are reflected in future planning. To find out more about Community Strategic Planning, see the NSW Office of Local Government website.
Why are we talking to the community?
Apart from legislative obligations, Council is seeking to engage with the Ku-ring-gai community in November and December, to ensure that the vision set by the CSP is up-to-date and remains focused on the evolving needs of the community.
Since the last update to the CSP in 2022, Ku-ring-gai's population and demographics have evolved, and with that the values, priorities and needs of our community would have changed. To capture the change, community engagement will be undertaken, reviewing Ku-ring-gai CSP 2032 to inform and update the CSP. This engagement will focus on identifying the current needs of Ku-ring-gai's residents, businesses, community service providers, and government agencies.
Through this process, we aim to address key topics such as:
- Community, people and culture
- Natural environment
- People, places and infrastructure
- Access, traffic and transport
- Local economy
- Leadership
This is your opportunity to share your thoughts on how Ku-ring-gai Council can continue to balance future growth while preserving our rich history, culture, and identity.
